Pirelli has announced a significant leadership transition within its Motorsport Business Unit, confirming that long‑time motorsport figure Mario Isola will leave the company on July 1st, following a structured handover period.
In its official communication, Pirelli emphasized continuity and stability during the leadership change. The company stated that Dario Marrafuschi “will become Head of Pirelli’s Motorsport Business Unit replacing Mario Isola who will provide support until July 1st to ensure a smooth and effective transition.” After that date, Isola will leave the company “to pursue new professional challenges.”
The transition plan reflects Pirelli’s intention to maintain consistency across its motorsport programs, including its high‑profile role as Formula 1’s exclusive tyre supplier.
Marrafuschi’s background and new responsibilities
Dario Marrafuschi joined Pirelli in 2008 and has built a career spanning Formula 1 tyre research, product development, and leadership roles in the company’s road‑tyre division. Pirelli highlighted this experience in its announcement, noting that he “has extensive experience in Formula 1 in the Research and Development area and in recent years has headed the development of Pirelli’s road products.”
Like his predecessor, Marrafuschi will report directly to Giovanni Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President of Sustainability, New Mobility & Motorsport.
Pirelli pays tribute to Mario Isola
Isola’s departure closes a chapter that has lasted nearly three decades. He became one of the most visible figures in Formula 1 through his role as Pirelli’s public‑facing motorsport leader, regularly briefing teams, media, and fans on tyre performance and strategy.
Pirelli’s statement expressed gratitude for his long service, saying: “The company extends its thanks to Mario Isola for his significant contribution to the development of the Motorsport business unit, carried out with dedication and great passion.
