So it’s good to get some early running in the car,” the Jaguar driver said. “I’ve got a feel for what a beast it will be in a good way, and I can only imagine 24 cars side by side of the Gen4. Adrian Newey Reveals Crucial Aston Martin F1 Advantage
Different suppliers work with different teams, meaning the research process for sustainable fuels is a development war in itself. Some suppliers will have more experience and competence in developing carbon-neutral energy than others. In this respect, Aramco have an advantage. Aramco has been Formula 2’s fuel supplier over the last few seasons, and in 2025 they provided the Championship with 100% sustainable fuels.
“Aramco are absolutely pivotal for us here because of how they develop fuel. As are Valvoline, which is developing the oil, to suit the work Honda is doing and are a big part of a very complicated, but very important, equation. Without having a technical partner and fuel supplier with Aramco’s expertise, Honda’s development of the power unit would be restricted.”

Formula E CEO Doesn’t See F1 Electrification as Encroachment on his Series’ Turf

Formula 1’s increased reliance on electrical energy isn’t worrying Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds. “For me, it’s just a reinforcement that the technology is superior technology,” he told RACER. “I’m definitely not frustrated by it. For me it brings credibility to the notion of electrification.”
“When the pre-eminent racing series in the world has an electric element to its setup, I think it justifies electric vehicle technology. The challenge for Formula 1 is it’s a power-to-weight game with, obviously, the aerodynamics. So at 50/50 if they want to go beyond that in terms of electrification, they have to add battery weight, and the cars are hugely complex.”
Why Formula E Really is a Game of High-Speed Chess
Sam Smith explains why Formula E is indeed a game of high-speed chess.
“I really think it is really similar in that way, as when you’re playing chess, you’re constantly thinking about a lot of different variations,” chess prodigy Anna Cramling tells The Race. “So, you’re constantly thinking, ‘OK, if I do this move, then this will happen in the position’ and ‘my opponent can reply in these different ways’. Then within every branch of those different ways, you have to calculate many different variations.”

New Name, New Ownership, New Speed for Kiro
Going into last season, the ERT Formula E team had a fresh look. Rechristened Kiro Race Co., it had been bought by American firm The Forest Road Company with additional investment from a consortium that included Atlanta Hawks owner Tony Ressler and actor Sir Idris Elba, plus backing from car manufacturer Cupra.
“In the last 16 months or so, it’s been really good,” team principal Russell O’Hagan tells RACER. “I think if you look back from the end of last season, the uptick in performance, some of the commercial things we did, if we’d imagined some 12 months before, I think we’d have been really shocked at what we came to.
