VP is the core currency in Pokémon Champions, and understanding how it works is essential if you want to build and optimize your teams as efficiently as possible. VP is what you’ll use to customize nearly everything in Pokémon Champions, and here’s how much each of those changes will cost.
All VP Costs in Pokémon Champions
Here’s a breakdown of the currently known VP costs in Pokémon Champions, which could be subject to change pending the game’s official release on April 8th, 2026:
- Fully training with items for a team recruited in game is about 18,000vp (assuming one mega.) with an extra 15,000 for recruitment costs totaling 33,000vp
- For transferred pokemon that have moves ability and nature already that drops to about 6,000vp (assuming one mega) saving a whopping 27,000 vp
- 400vp per item
- 2000vp per mega stone
- 2500vp per recruitment
- 2000vp to change all moves, ability, and nature (500 each for ability/nature 250/per move.)
- 330vp to add EVs
- 5230vp to recruit a pokemon change 4 moves, ability, nature, and add EVs and item. 6830vp if mega
- 730vp to add items and EVs to transferred mons with ability/nature/moves ready. 2330 if mega
- At least 200vp for a win, assuming some vp gain for a loss.
These costs come from early access impressions and competitive testing, and they form the backbone of how team building works in Champions. The source of these claims can be seen in the Reddit thread below.
This new battler will allow players to bring in their previously caught Pokémon from all recent games via Pokémon Home transfer, and Legends Z-A is the newest addition to that list.
