Bangladesh Cricket is going to reach out to Unite Nations (UN) to ask for their assistance and help in order to keep their rights for hosting the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Bangladesh is stuck in-between political tensions and distress within the country. Recently, Muhammad Yunus was named as the head of Bangladesh’s interim government. This was after the protest against former Prime Minister Sheikh Haseena. During all this chaos, uncertainty comes in over the hosting rights of Bangladesh for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in October.
According to reports, Bangladesh will be asking the UN for their help in this matter. The decision to ask for the UN’s help has come after many countries put travel restrictions on their citizens who would visit Bangladesh. These restrictions also put security arrangements of the country in big doubts, leaving their potential to host the tournament under risk.
“There are travel restrictions for some countries and so we will speak with the United Nations. There are some issues regarding security and infrastructure and we will talk in this regard with Professor Yunus [chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government]. He is a sports lover and hopes that he can resolve the matter,” said Asif Mahmud, the youth and sports adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government
