The 2026 NCAA Hockey Transfer Portal doesn’t officially open until April 15, but some players already are eligible to enter their names. Among them the entire Mercyhurst roster (program has been shut down), players who will be grad students and players whose coaches are not returning. Here are two links to portal trackers:

Journalist Mark Divver has posted names of some expected portal players on his X account. It’s anticipated that BU will look at potential portal additions to complement the 2026 recruit class.

Freshman Tynan Lawrence has posted the latest entry in his NHL Draft Diary. A projected top 10 draft pick, he commented on his first semester as a Terrier and what he’s doing to prepare for next season.
I enjoyed my time with the BU coaching staff. They just wanted me to
go out there and play, and not worry about things I couldn’t control.
They know I’m a good player. They’re confident in my ability and know
what I can do on the ice to help the team. I was able to play with
confidence down the stretch, and I want to take those moments and build
on it for next year.Speaking of next year … my goal this offseason is just getting
bigger, getting stronger, getting faster, working out more. I just want
to keep developing on and off the ice. Improve the little details on the
ice since I can always get better at those. Off the ice, I want to put
on muscle, put on weight, and just get stronger.
Lawrence is expected to suit up for Canada at the IIHF World U18 Championships in Slovakia beginning April 22.

College Hockey News’ Managing Editor Adam Wodon has begun a three-part series looking at how “the money available and the ability to transfer at will, has conspired to fundamentally alter college hockey.” The first two parts are online.

Looking ahead
2027 recruit Carter Meyer, who had been playing with the U18s, returned to the U17s for their final USHL game, generating a goal and three assists as Team USA outscored Chicago, 8-6. Meyer, whom The Athletic projected at #6 for the 2027 NHL Entry Draft, has a combined 63 points (27G,36A) in 63 games.

2027 recruit James Scantlebury scored his 16th goal in Chicago’s 5-2 win over the NTDP U18s. 2027 recruit Brady Knowling who split the goaltending duties for Team USA stopped 12 of 14 shots. The U18s have completed their USHL schedule and will prepare for the World U18s.
2026 recruit Viktor Norringer scored his 24th goal in Muskegon’s 7-3 loss to Dubuque. The 6’4″ wing finished the USHL regular season with 49 points in 48 games.
A fourth-round Nashville draft pick in 2024, Norringer received an honorable mention in The Athletic’s ranking of Predators’ prospects.
The Preds selected him as an overager after he played some in the SHL
last year and was one of the most productive players at the J20 level
with Frolunda. He has an NHL shot, with some real pop off his blade and a
good first-touch into his catch-and-shoot motion. He can hammer the
one-timer, too, and has puck protection skill. Pace and consistency are
the questions in terms of the NHL.
2027 recruit Egor Shilov‘s QMJHL season is over with Victoriaville’s elimination in the first round of the playoffs. He had a 2-3-5 line in four playoff games after leading the Tigers in regular-season scoring with 82 points. From Elite Prospects’ draft profile of Shilov:
The 18th-ranked prospect on our midseason board is a near-unanimous
tail-end first-rounder at this stage in the draft cycle. Silky mitts,
meticulous playmaking, and a pro release — all elevated by an elite
processor — have made Shilov the Victoriaville Tigres’ most impactful
forward. The centre’s 82 points in 63 regular-season games were good for
seventh in the league, and he ended the season as the Tigres’ top
scorer.Beyond the production, Shilov brought much-needed
excitement to Victoriaville’s offence. Highlight-reel play after
highlight-reel play made the Tigres a must-watch team.
Looking back
Clayton Keller recorded his third career NHL hat trick and added an assist, leading the Mammoth to a 7-4 victory over Vancouver. The four-point effort boosts his scoring line to 25-53-78 in 76 games while his +22 is a career-best.
