Based in northeast England, Chris Auld (@cauldphoto) started out shooting commercial projects for advertising and design agencies. His interest in cycling took him to races around the UK until in 2016 he photographed the UCI World Championships in Qatar. He has been documenting WorldTour races around the globe ever since.
[Main image, top]: ‘The Roubaix finish line is different to other races. You can’t be straight on because there are still riders doing laps of the track. I’d only arrived about four minutes before winner Pauline Ferrand-Prévot came through so it was a frantic end to a frantic day. The moto drops you at the back gate and I had to leg it across the track to get in position for this side-on shot. The effort was worth it.’
