Tonight’s UFC 326 event was headlined by a highly anticipated BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.
Holloway (27-9) and Oliveira (37-11) originally collided at featherweight (145lbs) back in August of 2015, with ‘Blessed’ emerging victorious after the Brazilian suffered a neck injury.
This time around their bout was contested at lightweight, with Holloway’s BMF title up for grabs.
Max Holloway was returning to the Octagon for the first time since defeating Dustin Poirier this past July at UFC 318. Prior to that triumph, ‘Blessed’ was coming off a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in October of 2024 (see that here).
Meanwhile, Charles Oliveira was most previously seen in action this past October, where he scored a second-round submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot (see that here). That win was of course preceded by a knockout loss to the aforementioned Ilia Topuria at UFC 317.
Tonight’s UFC 326 main event proved to be a completely one-sided affair. Charles Oliveira was able to takedown Max Holloway seemingly at will for the entirety of the fight, resulting a lopsided unanimous decision victory. In addition to smothering and battering ‘Blessed’ on the ground, Charles looked every bit as dangerous during their brief exchanges in the stand up, landing some nasty front kicks to the body as well as some hard punches. It was an incredible showing for the Brazilian who is now the promotion’s new BMF champion.
