Today’s UFC London event was headlined by a high stakes featherweight matchup featuring Movsar Evloev taking on Lerone Murphy.
Evloev (20-0 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since earning a unanimous decision victory over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 310 in December of 2024. The undefeated Russian had won all of his previous nine fights by way of judges’ decisions.
Meanwhile, Lerone Murphy (17-1-1 MMA) had most previously competed at last August’s UFC 319 event, where he scored a brutal first-round knockout victory over Aaron Pico (see that here). ‘The Miracle’ had gone 8-0-1 inside of the Octagon ahead of tonight’s affair, earning victories over Josh Emmett, Dan Ige and Edson Barboza during that stretch.
Tonight’s UFC London main event proved to be a closely contest back and forth affair. Lerone Murphy was able to get off to a good start, seemingly winning the opening two rounds and keeping the third up for debate. However, Movsar Evloev began to finally utilize his strong grappling in rounds four and five, a decision which ultimately paid off with a rather dominant final 10 minutes. Despite losing a point for a low blow, Evloev wound up walking away with a majority decision victory.
