Prungo Flux Go Red light therapy for tennis elbow

Red light therapy

Red light therapy is an old school type of therapy which helps with inflammation and maximises recovery. This treatment works by increasing blood and oxygen to the tissue. The red light is deep and penetrating and most importantly non invasive. This type of red light therapy has become quite the norm for celebs and professional athletes. At its heart,  Red light therapy helps witu cellular stimulation, helping the production of collagen which is good for the skin also.

Prungo Flux Go.

Red light treatments are available in clinics, physiotherapists, health shops. Treatment can take anything from 8 to 20 minutes and ofcourse cost anything from £25-100 GBP depending on the treatment. Celebrities use red light masks for their faces, which helps with complexion,  fine lines and wrinkles. The Prungo Flux Go brings red light treatment into the comfort of your home. It is a medical grade laser product.

The Flux Go comes in a lovely padded zip case. Unfastening the zip, you discover the three red light units neatly placed into the case. They are easily slid out and fit comfortably into the palm of your hand. There are two buttons on each device,  a power button and an M button. There is also a screen which reveals battery life, duration and strength. There are 3 options, mid, mild and strong and with press of the button the light becomes brighter and more penetrating.

Tennis Elbow

The Flux Go is a portable red light therapy device for use on the go. There are 3 red light units in the case and they are easily stored neatly and tidily inside the case. Having 3 units creates a portability and usefulness that i have not encountered before. You can attach the units anywhere on your body. There are several straps with varying lengths so you can tailor your treatment to your own body.

There are some common conditions like tennis elbow which plague tennis players. It niggles away like a tooth ache, making tennis painful. The traditional methods of icing and rest are effective to a point. But does the Flux Go actually help with this type of injury? The beauty about this device is that you can treat tennis elbow on court. It gets straight to work, perhaps a quick blast during a change over or at the end of a set.

I did not feel anything from the units during treatment save for a little warmth as the device heats up during use. Its a strange sensation and I cannot honestly be sure that this type of therapy works. I am not a doctor however if the medicine indicates that this type of therapy works then I am all for it.

Although tennis elbow is a scourge amongst tennis players,  this device can be used with muscles,  joints,  tendons, the list is endless.  I have no doubt the device will help with general wellbeing too. There is no need to be suffering from pain to use the Flux Go. Given their dynamism and flexibility,  the Flux Go devices are extremely useful.

Placebo or not

Despite a little scepticism the Flux Go seems to work for me. Ofcourse I told myself this could be a placebo but I tried the device on one leg for a period of two weeks. Call me mad, but I definitely felt more relaxed and rejuvenated on the leg following red light treatments.

If you are in any doubt of the benefits of red light therapy, there is plenty of research out there to the benefits. My natural scepticism arises as with most muscular devices you feel some instant relief with the treatment. Red light therapy is not  a magic wand and although the therapy may be deeper and not just skin deep, it doesn’t really feel like it straight away.

I liken the treatment akin to taking medicine. You dont always feel the instant benefit but with consistent use in time you will feel the improvement.

Battery Life and Charging

The Flux Go units are charged through the case. This is super useful as there are three of them and you can do all 3 at once. The case charges the devices through one type C cable attached to the case. Its incredibly handy. Battery Life is surprisingly good. Having a battery percentage on each unit is a useful feature, it ensures you are never caught out with battery level.

I found the battery management super handy. After each use so long as I returned the devices to the case i ensured they were charged for the next use. I never used the devices from full charge to empty in my field test. I did however tend to enjoy multiple treatments back to back. One thing I would like to see changed is there is no audible or vibration indication once the devices run out of time on the treatment. There were times that the time had expired and I didn’t notice. This caused some mild frustration for me but it is only a small criticism of an otherwise impressive product.

Final Thoughts

The Prungo Flux Go is a portable device that provides medical grade red light therapy. The case is small enough to fit in a racket bag and has a long enough battery life to have heavy use across a tennis tournament. It is clean, hygienic and easily used.
