Alana King’s fifer stunned the Brisbane Heat in the 14th match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2024-25 on Tuesday to hand Perth Scorchers a convincing 28-run win. Let’s look at PS-W vs BH-W Highlights.

Brisbane was steady in their approach to chase the target of 143 and were on 62 for 3 in 9.4 overs at one stage then came King and changed the game completely towards Perth.

With this win, Perth overtook Brisbane to reach third on points table.

Invited to bowl, the Perth Scorchers managed to post 142 in their 20 overs, thanks to Beth Mooney’s 77 off 52.

The opening stand between Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney lasts till six overs with 40 on board. Skipper Sophie Devine, who was the aggressor in the opening stand scored 25.

After Sophie, Mooney took the responsibility on her shoulders and led the side in pressure of seeing wickets falling from the other end.

Mooney was stayed at the crease from opening to 19.5 overs before being only out on the last ball of innings.

Nicola Hancock was the pick of the bowler for Brisbane with three wickets. While Nadine de Klerk bagged two.

Brisbane Heat women to chase 143 in 20 overs

Chasing a target of 143 proved to be a difficult task for the Brisbane Heat, as they lost their first three wickets inside the powerplay.

With 38 for 3 in 5.4 overs, the best partnership of the innings of 24 runs between Jess Jonassen and Charlie Knott ended with Jonassen dismissal.

Alana King of Perth then gripped Brisbane’s innings with her magical spell of five-wicket haul, as Jess Jonassen-led Brisbane bundled out for 114.

Laura Harris was the top run-scorer for Brisbane. She tried her best during her 21-ball 40 knock, but it wasn’t enough.
