IPL 2024 was a campaign of disaster for Mumbai Indians (MI). The franchise had to face a severe consequences as they handed the captaincy to Hardik Pandya and removed Rohit from his position. The crowd went all out behind Rohit and gave Hardik a hard time both on and off the field. Pandya was visibly disturbed by that massive booing by the people and it was evident from his leadership. The performance of the whole team took a hit since they failed to make it to playoffs and finished at the bottom after securing victory in only 4 out of total 14 matches.
From the day Rohit Sharma got removed from the captaincy, people started assuming that Rohit would break his connections with MI before the IPL 2025.
Since then, a lot has changed and if there were any, then all the misconceptions have been sorted out between Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma since India’s victory in the T20 World Cup.
Indian ace spinner R Ashwin believes that if things are good then there should not be any reason for Rohit to part ways with the franchise. He said that he expects Rohit to stay with MI.
“Even if you think like Rohit, it’s not wrong at all. ‘I don’t want any headache. I have been a captain for India. I have captained Mumbai many times. Even if I am not a captain, I am going to play for Mumbai happily. If I play for Mumbai, it’s super’. I am sure most players are like that. After a stage, money doesn’t matter for some of those players. That’s the thing,” said Ashwin.
