India’s veteran spin-bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has been taken in by the yellow side once again after a gap of what comes out to be almost a decade, as he has been bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs. 9.75 crore.
Four of the franchises were interested in taking Ashwin for their side, but it came down to CSK and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Eventually, RR gave up and Ashwin was sold to CSK.
After the auctions, the official Chennaiipl Instagram account posted a video of Ashwin, where he stated how he felt nostalgic and remembered how they fought in the bidding war, which reminded him of the old times.
“They say life is a circle. I played for them from 2008 to 2015. I am always indebted to them. Whatever I learnt at CSK then has propelled me this far in international cricket. It’s been 10 years since I played for CSK,” Ashwin said.
“The price, CSK buying me and all that is there. But, I feel nostalgic because, CSK fought for me during the bidding war like how they did in 2011. It was a trip down memory lane. It’s a very special feeling,” he added.
