The racquet sports program at The Country Club at Mirasol has emerged as one of the most active, comprehensive, and well-structured private-club tennis operations in Palm Beach County. Fueled by exceptional member participation, supportive management, a dedicated racquet sports staff that includes eight full-time teaching professionals, and sustained investment in world-class facilities, the program has become a defining feature of the community.

At the center of it all is Kristine Mendivil, now in her 14th season at Mirasol and serving as Director of Racquet Sports. Mendivil describes her role as dynamic, energizing, and deeply rewarding—a reflection of the constant activity that fills the courts daily.

“The racquet sports programs are incredibly vibrant, and the Mirasol membership is truly phenomenal,” she said.

Mendivil credits much of the program’s success to the members themselves, whose involvement extends far beyond league matches and social play.

“They’re huge supporters of our program, and that’s really what I enjoy about the membership,” she explained.

Mirasol currently features 15 tennis courts and six outdoor pickleball courts, with an ambitious expansion on the horizon. In the coming months, the club will debut a seven-court indoor pickleball facility, underscoring its commitment to meeting evolving member interests while preserving its strong tennis foundation.

For Mendivil, alignment between programming and how members use the club is key. That means continuously evaluating the membership, listening to their interests, and ensuring they’re fully aware of everything the racquet sports department offers.

“Tennis serves many different needs,” she said. “The program has to resonate with the membership.”

Members consistently praise both the facilities and the level of care provided by the staff.

“Everything is first class. Everything is taken care of for us,” said Robert, a longtime member. “The courts are always in great condition. Kristine and her crew make sure everybody is well taken care of. The events here—member guests—are done in a first-class manner, with great food and great competition.”

“If you look around, you’ll see how beautiful it is,” added Robert. “Other teams come here and play, and they’re always very complimentary about how nice of a club this is.”

Mirasol’s competitive presence is equally impressive. The club is the only private equity club to field teams in every division of the Palm Beach County Women’s Tennis Association league, totaling eight teams. In addition, Mirasol competes with two women’s teams in Palm Tennis, three men’s teams in the Palm Beach County Senior League, and two men’s teams in Palm Tennis.

For many residents, tennis was a deciding factor in choosing Mirasol.

“The main reason we chose Mirasol was because of the tennis program.,” said Ken. “They had 15 courts, five pros, kids’ programs, and a real active tennis culture. Quite frankly, if it wasn’t for Mirasol, I don’t know if we would have bought a house in South Florida. Mirasol tennis is the best.”

The daily buzz on the courts speaks for itself. Lisa, who plays almost every day, says finding a match is never an issue.

“There are 15 courts, and they’re full every day until noon,” she said. “Where else can you go where 15 courts are full with people playing tennis? You can always find people to play with here.”

She also points to the depth and pedigree of the coaching staff as a major differentiator.

“The coaching staff is amazing. Everyone has a different style,” Lisa said. “My coach, Jason Suarez, was a hitting partner for Grigor Dimitrov.”

Mirasol’s teaching team is certified by the Racquet Sports Professional Association and collectively brings more than 200 years of instructional experience. Among them is former WTA standout Brenda Schultz-McCarthy, who reached a career high of No. 9 in singles and No. 7 in doubles.

As the club prepares to open its indoor pickleball facility, Mirasol continues to position itself at the forefront of racquet sports innovation while honoring a deeply rooted tennis tradition. With full courts, elite instruction, and a highly engaged membership, the racquet sports program remains one of the community’s most popular and defining attractions—a true reflection of Mirasol’s commitment to excellence, both on and off the court.
