The Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rahul Dravid appears to be back to business soon after rejoining as he had taken up another role with his former franchise. He most recently served as head coach for India’s national team which won T20 World Cup 2024.
After taking a break from cricket by resigning from the position of head coach at national level, Dravid went back on to IPL circuit reuniting with his previous franchise.
In a video uploaded on “X” RR official account, Dravid was seen taking part in a meeting involving some of the non-playing staff members of franchise. The newly appointed head coach jokingly remarked “So this is where IPL is won” on entering indicating that he means business with the first champions.
There have been moments when royals looked like champions but lost in several knockouts. The side played an IPL 2022 final against Gujarat Titans under Sanju Samson captaining .
In 2023, RR did not qualify for the playoffs and ended up at fifth place. But in 2024 they regrouped and reached the playoffs only to get eliminated by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second eliminator.
For IPL 2025 mega-auctions, Dravid and Co will look forward to incorporating some new players into their squad while letting go off others that are not helping much. Dravid’s association with Samson may also be a determining factor of how well the franchise does.
Given his successful record of making Indian cricket stronger than ever before, Dravid might just be what Royals need if they want to win a title at all.
