A local cricketing academy in Bengaluru accorded Rahul Dravid a hero’s welcome plus a guard of honour by young cricketers. It was when he made an entrance as a World Cup-winning coach when the honor came. In memory of the former India coach, Dravid, the young budding talents along with coaching staff at the cricket academy paid tribute. The students had their bats raised, and the coaching members gave Dravid a standing ovation. The world cup-winning coach shook hands with everyone.
Rahul Dravid made his debut internationally back in 1996 until 2012 when he played for India. However, becoming world champion had always been the thing he longed for. This dream was realized not only by him but also by another person who happened to succeed him in his leadership position over the Indian team. The period when he was leading the Indian team was also the last time he ever was a head coach of this squad. Unlike other coaches who failed to win at least one world cup match, Dravid managed to win one with this team hence finishing his coaching career on a higher note.
Rahul Dravid is no longer the coach of the Indian national team; rather, he will be training young players with great potential so that they can develop accordingly. In a video posted online by a local academy in Bangalore that teaches cricket skills among other things, Rahul said how pleased he is coming back to play and guide upcoming junior cricketers whose dream is becoming great stars for indian cricket.
The animated way that Dravid celebrated depicted how much the victory meant to him. From raising the World Cup trophy with amazing zeal to waving at the crowd during India’s victory parade, Dravid outdid himself.Rohit Sharma, the captain, spoke about how much Dravid deserved the trophy more than anyone else during the press conference after winning the World Cup.”
“Rahul Dravid, more than anyone of us, deserved the World Cup trophy. What he has done for Indian cricket for the past 20–25 years… I think this was the only thing that was left in his cabinet. Very happy from all of us, on behalf of the entire team, that we could do this for him. You saw how proud he was and how excited he was,” Rohit said during the post-match press conference after India’s win.
