The trade that wasn’t official between the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens involving Maxx Crosby is one of the storylines of the NFL offseason.
Las Vegas was set to receive two first-round picks in exchange for the veteran pass rusher. However, Crosby would fail his physical, allowing the Ravens to nix the deal with the Raiders and leading them to sign free-agent Trey Hendrickson.
As a result, the Silver and Black have Crosby back in the fold while using the cap space they did have to improve the team. Wth Crosby committed to Las Vegas at least for this upcoming 2026 season, new Raiders wide receiver Jalen Nailor noted that he’s glad to have the defensive player as a teammate.
“I have heard from Maxx,” Nailor told Kay Adams on the March 19 edition of “Up & Adams.” “He actually texted me the day before I signed, and I met him once I got there, got to the facility, and he’s a great dude, man. I can’t wait to spend more time with him off the field, on the field, and in the weight room, stuff like that, you know what I mean?
“He seems like a really genuine guy who wants to win, and he’s done what he’s done so far in his career, and he’s just ready to keep improving and building on that.”
NFL Insider Shares Update on Maxx Crosby’s Future
On March 18, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared the latest regarding Crosby and whether a trade could happen as the draft approaches.
“If the Raiders are gonna go trade him today, I think his value would be 80 cents on the dollar,“ Schefter said. “All the factors that are out there make it less likely that Maxx Crosby would be traded. Most importantly, we have Maxx Crosby professing love to the Raiders and saying that he wants to be back there. So it’s almost like these two have gone to some chapel in Las Vegas to renew their vows.
“They’re back together. I think they’ll be together. Could we see a situation later this offseason? Always. Where a team steps forward: We want Maxx Crosby. We’re willing to give you a first-round draft pick, or whatever it may be. Yeah, that’s always possible, of course. But the most likely scenario, and I don’t think it’s close right now, is that Maxx Crosby is a Raider for the 2026 season.”
Should the Raiders Keep Maxx Crosby Long-Term?
Moreover, Schefter noted that Crosby might feel convinced to see out this rebuild, given what the Raiders have done in free agency to improve the team, and there’s still the draft left, as many expect the Silver and Black to take Fernando Mendoza.
“I always thought, ‘Well, hold on, there’s a new head coach in Klint Kubiak, they’re gonna have the No. 1 pick that is expected to be Fernando Mendoza. They got Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty. They had, at the time, about $90 million in cap space, and we saw how they spent that money,‘” Schefter added.
“Like, if you’re Maxx Crosby and you’re the Raider that you say you are, and he is, why do you want to leave that now when the Raiders look like they are putting together some parts that make it more encouraging and give you more optimism than you’ve had about that team than any time in recent memory?”
