A Super Bowl week report suggested that the Las Vegas Raiders would not consider trading star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby this offseason unless they landed “probably more” than the Dallas Cowboys received in return from the Green Bay Packers for Micah Parsons this past August.
During a Wednesday appearance on Philadelphia sports radio station 97.5 The Fanatic, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter delivered somewhat of a reality check to those running the Raiders this winter.
Will Raiders get what they want in return for Maxx Crosby?
“I was told that the Raiders don’t want to trade him and that if they even contemplated it, it would take a Micah Parsons-type package,” Schefter said about Crosby, per Chris Franklin of NJ.com. “That’s what I was told. Do I think they’re getting two ones and a player? No. Do I think that they’re going to want to trade him? No. Do I think he’ll be traded? …It’ll change by the week, but it’s certainly possible.”
Specifically, Green Bay sent two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to Dallas for the right to sign Parsons to a four-year, $188M contract that included $136M guaranteed. Meanwhile, Crosby and the Raiders agreed to a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason. Parsons will turn 27 years old later this spring, while Crosby will be 29 when the 2026 season gets underway.
Raiders have plenty to sell to Maxx Crosby about staying put?
A recent report noted that there is a chance that Crosby will be willing to play under recently hired Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak through the 2026 campaign. Schefter hinted that Raiders principal owner Mark Davis and team minority owner Tom Brady haven’t yet given up on holding onto Crosby.
“If you’re the Raiders, you can go to Maxx Crosby now and say, ‘Hey, we just hired this great young coach, Klint Kubiak. We’re going to have the No. 1 overall pick in (Indiana quarterback) Fernando Mendoza. We’ve got $90M in cap space. You’re a Raider. Don’t you want to be here?’ That doesn’t seem like a hard sell to me,” Schefter added during the segment.
A Wednesday report shared that the Raiders are all-in on making Mendoza the first pick of the upcoming draft. Previous stories had linked Las Vegas with Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson, but there’s no sign the Ravens will trade Jackson this offseason.
