We had a feeling this could happen, and it came to fruition. The Rangers don’t trade Vincent Trocheck at the trade deadline, as no one met their high asking price. There were several teams rumored, and perhaps a late push by Carolina to land the center. Sounds like Minnesota and the Rangers were never truly close for Trocheck either, and there were no other teams that came up during this dud of a trade deadline.
in a vacuum, it’s good that Drury had his asking price and didn’t budge. That’s what you want your GM to do – set a fair price and make sure you get it. But there are two concerns: 1) Trocheck is a declining asset and will probably get exposed without Artemi Panarin on his wing, and 2) It’s still Chris Drury, and we don’t have faith in him.
We always knew it was a possibility that the Rangers don’t trade Vincent Trocheck, just not a strong possibility until this week.
