With yesterday’s recall of goalie Dylan Garand, we were expecting some Rangers injury updates this weekend. Per Mollie Walker, Jonathan Quick left practice relatively early today, so it looks like Garand will not only replace Quick, but get a start. There has been a big push to have Garand get some NHL action, and while I personally didn’t see the need to rush him, Quick’s injury naturally changes the situation. It will be nice to see what Garand can do at the NHL level.

In addition, both Noah Laba and Urho Vaakanainen are expected to be out week to week, which may effectively end their seasons. There are four weeks left in the season, so it may behoove the Rangers to simple let them heal and come back ready for next season, but we shall see how long they are actually out.
