The New York Rangers have placed forward Adam Edstrom on LTIR, retroactive to his first missed game at the beginning of the month. LTIR rules state he must miss either 10 games or 24 days, whichever comes first. The timing of Edstrom on LTIR lines up with Adam Fox’s time on LTIR. The 10 game mark is after the Rangers home matchup against the Flyers on December 20. The Rangers go on a five game road trip after that, so it will be interesting to see how the roster is managed.
Edstrom on LTIR is another blow for the kid and the Rangers, as Edstrom has been a solid contributor on the fourth line alongside Sam Carrick and a rotation of other wingers. But on the bright side, Jaroslav Chmelar is sticking with the Rangers and looking like a solid fourth line contributor as well.
Between Edstrom, Chmelar, and Matt Rempe, the Rangers have no shortage of giants that can play solid fourth line minutes.
