Rangers place Matt Rempe back on IR

The Rangers mismanaged yet another injury and will be putting Matt Rempe back on IR with the same hand injury he sat out with earlier this season. Rempe injured his hand in a fight with Ryan Reaves, missed about a month, and then returned way too soon. Mike Sullivan even acknowledged Rempe wasn’t fully healthy, which is why he was playing every other game. The fact Sully acknowledged that Rempe wasn’t healthy actually makes things worse. The Rangers have a terrible history with injury management, no matter who the GM is.

The Rangers are terrible with this, and you’d think at some point they’d learn their lesson. I can’t believe Rempe was even playing. Aside from Sully acknowledging his injury, it’s clear he wasn’t as effective and was hesitant on the ice, something that hinders his style of play.

The New York Rangers are an embarrassment from top to bottom right now. This is just another stain on Chris Drury–again this issue isn’t unique to Drury–as he tries to regain trust from his players, the fans, and the media. It seems the only person that trusts him right now is James Dolan, which is rightfully terrifying when you think about the future of the team. Placing Matt Rempe back on IR should have never happened because he never should have returned in the first place.
