After dismissing Bangladesh tail-ender Khaled Ahmed with a simple caught and bowled, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja accomplished the impressive feat of claiming 300 wickets in red-ball cricket. With this, Jadeja adds yet another milestone to his name in an already illustrious career.
The all-rounder from Saurashtra has claimed some more records in the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test series.
India captain Rohit Sharma had cheekily mentioned the milestone tussle between Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja during the England series earlier this year. Ashwin took the spotlight at home in Chennai last week, bagging his 37th Test fifer and completing a marvelous century.
Kanpur had Jadeja back in focus as he became the fourth fastest Indian to take 300 wickets in the longest format of the game, doing so in 74 games. He is only behind Ashwin (54), Anil Kumble (66) and Harbhajan Singh (72).
Jadeja also became the second-fastest player in history to score 3000 runs and clinch 300 wickets in Test cricket. He only fell behind England great Ian Botham who managed to do so in 72 Tests, just 2 matches before Jadeja.
What truly elevates Jadeja’s performance is his all-round presence in Indian Test wins over the last decade. Since January 2013, India have won 64 of the 112 Tests they have played. Featuring in 72 Tests in the period, Jadeja has been part of 46 wins – the seventh-most among all Indians.
Looking at his incredible fitness and great form in red-ball cricket, Jadeja is expected to claim even more Test records in the near future.
