The Indian team came into the ongoing IND vs NZ 3rd Test in a bid to churn out a win after already conceding the series 2-0 in the first two games.
After bundling out the Kiwis for 235 in the first innings, the Indian team suffered an early setback when the lost skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply for 18.
However, it looked like the Indian innings would get steadied after Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to stitch a 50-run stand. But things would soon start spiralling as Yashasvi Jaiswal got dismissed trying a reverse sweep which started a collapse.
Next, nightwatchman Mohammed Siraj came in but lasted only one ball, after getting trapped lbw and wasting a review. The hosts would take a further hit as former India skipper Virat Kohli would depart another six balls later due to a suicidal run out attempt. In short, India lost three wickets in just eight balls.
Following the dismal batting display, India’s premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who had contributed with a five-wicket haul earler in the day, was left shocked.

Speaking at the presser after Day 1’s play, Jadeja said, “It was unexpected, miscommunication and misjudgement happens. We are 150 runs behind, small partnerships to take team’s total over 230 will be our game-plan”.
Earlier in the day, Jadeja reached a new ladmark with his fifer.
