All-rounder star Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from T20 Internationals, bringing to a close on a triumphant note following India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win. This is following the retirement of fellow players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma earlier from T20 Internationals.

In an emotional message on Instagram, Jadeja thanked the fans and the cricket fraternity.

“I am grateful to everyone. I bid adieu to T20 internationals with a grateful heart. Like an honest horse galloping with pride, I have always given my best for my country.”

However, Jadeja will still play across formats for India, which shows that he is still committed to Indian cricket to the core. He mentioned that winning the T20 World Cup was almost like a dream come true and was the zenith of his T20I stint. In this regard, this victory sees India return to the top of the T20 cricket world after a gap of 17 years, where the contributions from Jadeja were crucial.

Jadeja made his T20I debut during the 2009 season and gradually developed into a very reliable performer for India. He played 74 T20I matches for India, taking 54 wickets and scoring 515 runs. That made him a very useful all-rounder and a sharp fielder in the shortest format of the game.

He played a main role in six T20 World Cup campaigns, and Jadeja’s experience and class proved to be the most critical factors in shaping India’s T20 fortunes. Thus comes the end of a phase in Indian T20 cricket, while he is yet an important player in India’s schemes—Test, as well as ODI.

As Jadeja steps back from international T20s, his legend as an all-rounder and committed cricketer will continue to inspire generations yet to be. His fans and co-players shall always be reminiscent of the good times, cheer, and constant support system he brought with him toward the game.
