2025 Global Youth Sevens MVP Treyvon Pritchard has been named in a 32-player Australia U20 squad for a training camp in Coffs Harbour, with the group set to assemble as part of the Coffs Coast Festival of Rugby.
Pritchard debuted for the Queensland Reds against Japan Rugby League One powerhouse the Saitama Wild Knights last October, before earning opportunities to play minutes at Super Rugby Pacific level over recent weeks.
The 18-year-old came off the bench against the ACT Brumbies in Canberra earlier this month, with older brother Kadin Pritchard lining up for the home side. Reds coach Les Kiss has also selected Treyvon in the matchday 23 to face the NSW Waratahs and Fijian Drua.
Australia U20 coach Chris Whitaker has selected Pritchard and 31 others for a week-long training camp from April 4, as the team begins its preparations for The Rugby Championship U20 and World Rugby U20 Championship.
SANZAAR revealed the match schedule for TRC U20, which returns to Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha for the second straight year. Australia kick off their tournament against New Zealand on Monday, April 27.
New Suth Wales is the most-represented state in this Australia squad, with 13 prospects from the Waratahs selected. Pritchard is among the 11 Reds representatives chosen, while seven ACT Brumbies players and one Western Force talent round out the group.
Australia Sevens ace Wallace Charlie is one of eight players deemed unavailable for selection, with the other seven ruled out due to injury. Dylan Simmons, Nick Hill, Manaia Te Tana, Bennett Armistead, Ed Kasprowicz, Felix Cooper and Tom Farr-Jones will miss the camp.
Former All Blacks lock Jeremy Thrush joins the management group as the forwards coach, while Damien Hill (defence) and Mathew Evrad/Nic Henderson (scrum) join Whitaker in the Australia U20 setup for the 2026 season.
“After a competitive Super Rugby Next Gen competition to begin the year, we are pleased to name an exciting 32-man squad for our first camp of 2026,” Whitaker said.
“Coffs Coast Festival of Rugby gives us our first chance to start building connection on-and-off the field.
“We are looking forward to using this week as a springboard to build towards a strong Junior World Championship campaign in Georgia.”
