The 1993–94 New York Rangers were a team that, once they found their footing, felt almost unstoppable. After a shaky start to the season, they regrouped and went on to give fans plenty of unforgettable memories during their march toward the Stanley Cup. This game, in particular, was one of the first real signs of just how special that group was, when the Rangers scored 6 powerplay goals in a game.
On October 13, 1993, at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers put on a show. Trailing 3–0, they stormed back and delivered a historic performance on the power play, scoring six times with the man advantage in a 6–4 win over the Quebec Nordiques. They capitalized on six of seven opportunities, setting a new franchise record after previously topping out at five power-play goals in a game, something they had only done twice before.
Brian Leetch helped lead the comeback with two goals, while Mark Messier, Adam Graves, Mike Gartner, and Alexander Karpovtsev each found the back of the net as well. It was the kind of night that hinted at bigger things to come, and it sounded even better on MSG Network with Sam Rosen and John Davidson on the call.
