While Barbados has not had any movement on petroleum prices for over a year, it ranks No. 5 among the most expensive gasoline prices in the world.
According to globalpetrolprices. com, one of the leading providers of data on the retail prices of motor fuel, electricity and natural gas, only four countries out of a total of 150 are ahead of Barbados, where the price of gasoline has stood at US$2.09 (BDS$4.22) per litre since September 2023.
Hong Kong has the highest gasoline price at US$3.312 followed by Monaco, US$2.317; Iceland US$2.214 and Netherlands US$2.095).
For the past year, Barbados has been ranking between 15, 12 and 10 and only recently jumped to the fifth position.
The closest Caribbean country to Barbados is Cayman Islands which ranks at No. 51 with its price at US$1.46. St Lucia is at No. 73 with its price at US$1.343.
