Fallout from the recent TNA-related booking drama has led to a brand-new main event being announced for WrestleMania weekend.
After WrestleCon confirmed that Leon Slater was pulled from his originally scheduled match against Ricochet, the company quickly moved to lock in a replacement bout to headline the Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow.
The original plan called for Ricochet to face Slater in a featured singles match, but that bout fell apart after TNA removed Slater from the appearance due to what was described as “partner conflicts.” The situation followed similar changes to other independent bookings involving crossover matches between TNA and AEW-related talent.
In the latest update, WrestleCon officially announced a new multi-man main event to take its place, shifting the spotlight to a faction-style showdown. The new headlining match will see The Demand take on JetSpeed alongside Michael Oku.
This change marks a significant pivot from the originally scheduled singles match, but it still keeps Ricochet in the main event position while bringing additional names into the spotlight. The shift also helps stabilize the card after the disruption caused by Slater’s removal.
The Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow, scheduled for April 16 during WrestleMania weekend, will now feature the updated lineup following the late change.
Current WrestleCon Supershow lineup (4/16):
- Heath & Rhino vs. The Head Bangers (Mosh & Thrasher)
- Masato Tanaka vs. Mark Davis
- The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) vs. Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews)
- CPF (Danny Black & Joe Lando) vs. Love And Peace (Ben-K & Hyo) vs. MxFx (Latigo & Toxin) vs. The StarMen (Starboy Charlie & Starman)
- Bandido vs. Galeno Del Mal
- The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, & Toa Liona) vs. JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) & Michael Oku
The replacement match shows how quickly plans can shift when outside partnerships create complications, especially during a packed WrestleMania weekend schedule. Even with the controversy surrounding the original booking, WrestleCon moved fast to keep the Supershow’s main event intact.
Do you think the new six-man tag main event is a stronger replacement than the original Ricochet vs. Leon Slater match, or would you rather have seen the singles bout happen? Share your thoughts and leave your feedback below.
