Netflix is pushing ahead into the world of podcasts, recently signing deals with Barstool Sports, Spotify and iHeart in an attempt to carve out a role in that market. And now it appear they are looking to bring on WWE podcasts as well.
According to a report by Front Office Sports, Fanatics has pitched WWE studio programming to Netflix though it’s unclear if Fanatics has pitched WWE shows currently on the platform or brand new ones. Shows hosted by the Undertaker, Stephanie McMahon, Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul have already been developed jointly by Fanatics and WWE.
The video version of these podcasts are currently available on YouTube so a move to Netflix would pull them from that free platform and put it behind a paywall. Regardless, it is believed that Fanatics and WWE are planning on expanding their partnership with more content offerings and have been assessing which talents they could use for such ventures.
Reps for Fanatics, WWE, and Netflix all declined to comment.
