Resident Evil: Requiem Extra Story Content – Is DLC

Now that Resident Evil: Requiem is out in the wild and players are reaching the end of the story, many are wondering: Will the game receive extra story content or DLC?

The ninth entry in the long-running survival horror series sees the return of veteran protagonist Leon S. Kennedy, alongside newcomer FBI agent Grace Ashcroft. Their parallel investigations lead them to the mysterious Rhodes Hill Clinic, a secretive facility where a former Umbrella scientist is experimenting with dangerous new bio-organic threats.

The story eventually takes players back to Raccoon City, revealing previously unknown details about the original outbreak. But the ending also raises several questions about the future of the franchise — and hints that Resident Evil: Requiem story DLC could expand the narrative further.

So, is extra story content for Resident Evil: Requiem actually coming? Here’s what we know so far.

Yes – Capcom has confirmed that a story expansion for Resident Evil: Requiem is in development.

The official Resident Evil account released a video in which Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi discusses the future of the game following its successful launch, selling over 5 million copies to date.

At the end of the video, Nakanishi confirms that additional story content is currently being developed for the survival horror sequel. While Capcom has not yet shared details about the expansion, the announcement confirms that Requiem’s story will continue beyond the main campaign.

SPOILERS for the ending of Resident Evil: Requiem follow.

The finale of Resident Evil: Requiem leaves several threads that could easily lead to new story content.

One possibility is a storyline focusing on Chris Redfield. Although Chris does not appear directly in the game’s main campaign, he is mentioned several times throughout the story. The legendary BSAA operative has been a central figure in the franchise for decades, appearing in most major entries since the original Resident Evil.

Chris was last seen leading his squad during the events of Resident Evil: Village, and his team appears after the final boss battle in Requiem. The game also reveals that the BSAA may have deeper ties to the events surrounding the Rhodes Hill Clinic and the outbreak.

Another potential storyline thread involves The Connections, a shadowy organisation previously introduced in the series. In the end credits scene, a group of The Connections’ Elite Guard soldiers infiltrates the ARK facility following the events of the game and eliminates BSAA personnel stationed there.

These two narrative threads could converge in a future expansion. Chris Redfield investigating the BSAA and The Connections would make a natural continuation of the story.

We’ll have to wait and see what the future brings, but it’s fun to speculate for now.

When Could Resident Evil: Requiem DLC Release?

Capcom has not announced a release date for the Resident Evil: Requiem story expansion yet.

However, recent Resident Evil titles such as Resident Evil Village received major story DLC roughly one year after launch, suggesting a similar timeline could be possible for Requiem.

For now, Capcom has only confirmed that additional story content is in development, with more details expected in future updates later this year. We will be looking out for these updates and will update this page when we know more.
