As Resident Evil celebrates its 30th anniversary, you can watch the feature-length Resident Evil fan film Resurrection: A Biohazard Story, which features the live-action cast from the original 1996 game.
The survival horror series turned 30 on March 22, 2026, and the game’s executive producer, Jun Takeuchi, put out a heartfelt thanks to the community for helping shape the long-running series.
It’s a time of celebration, and while there were many ways to go about it, perhaps the coolest thing to emerge from this was Residence of Evil’s feature-length film Resurrection: A Biohazard Story.
The live-action film was funded by fans and is a four-part story that includes the return of the original FMV cast from 1996’s Resident Evil to reprise their roles from the game.
The new story sees a fresh biohazard outbreak in a remote town, which drags old favourites Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, and Rebecca Chambers into a new nightmare and puts them face-to-face with one Albert Wesker.

Watch Resurrection: A Biohazard Story for Some Resi Nostalgia
The Resident Evil series has featured nine mainline games in its 30-year history and countless spin-offs that range from lightgun shooters to asymmetrical multiplayer titles. The series hit a bump in the road during the early 2010s, culminating in the poorly received Resident Evil 6.
But Capcom turned it around, and since Resident Evil 7’s release in 2017, the series has been enjoying a new lease of life. Last month, Resident Evil: Requiem, the ninth mainline game, launched to widespread acclaim and has since broken sales records for the series.
Here’s hoping for the continued success of the series and, along the way, a nice remake of Code: Veronica.
