“Retirement is still…”Jasprit Bumrah drops a bombshell about his retirement plans

Jasprit Bumrah was very important for Team India’s win in the T20 World Cup 2024. He was a fast bowler who did a great job with the ball, and even though he was second in taking the most wickets, he won the Player of the Tournament award. Bumrah took 15 wickets in 8 games and had a very good average of 4.17 runs per over. After the game, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja decided to stop playing T20 cricket. But Bumrah said he is not thinking about retiring from this format anytime soon.

“Retirement is still far off. I’ve only just begun. I’m really pleased with how things have gone so far. Hopefully, it stays that way,” Bumrah mentioned during the Team India’s celebration event at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

The Indian team was warmly welcomed by fans upon their return, bringing home the T20 World Cup trophy on Thursday. Whether in New Delhi or Mumbai, fans turned out in large numbers to celebrate with the players.

“It’s incredible. This field holds a special place in my heart. I started here as a U19 player. The scenes I witnessed today on the field, on the streets, and among the people here—I’ve never seen anything like it. The experience and the feelings we had after the match are unforgettable. I’ll always cherish these moments and the memories I’ve made,” Bumrah continued.

Bumrah also complimented his team and mentioned the goals that the older players have established for the group.

“I still consider myself relatively new. The seasoned players and the mix we have, the trust we have, all the players are so sure of themselves to take control of the game. All of that is really special. And like Rohit and Virat mentioned, our main goal is to advance Indian cricket and do everything we can to support the team and bring more honor to the country. We haven’t won a World Cup yet.

This makes us even more determined,” he continued.
