According to PTI, Jason decided to resign because the environment made by PCB was quite difficult for him to handle.
Former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie, who was the red-ball coach for Pakistan’s team, has called in for his retirement rom his position as he was not involved in the consulting on the selection of national squad for the upcoming two-match Test series in South Africa.
According to PTI, some officials from Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) made then environment quite difficult for the former Australian cricketer. He was also disappointed by the fact that PCB did not bother renewing his contract.
“Circumstances were created to make the former Australian player feel alienated in major decisions about the team,” the source said.
“First despite his request the board didn’t renew the contract of high performance coach Tim Nielsen and then the Test squad for the SA series was announced without consulting him,” he added.
The source noted that even though Jason was aware about the board stripping him away of having any inputs in the selection matters, he was expecting that he would get consulted by the selectors for any series as the head coach.
“Gillespie was also not happy that while refusing to renew the contract of Nielsen whom he had recommended, the board preferred to bring in Shahid Aslam from the National Cricket Academy as a coach into the support staff on the recommendation of interim white ball head coach and senior selector Aaqib Javed,” the source added.
Pakistan team is currently scheduled to plat two-match Test series against South Africa, which is going to take action from December 26.
