Rey Mysterio says the unexpected Judgment Day betrayal didn’t surprise him at all — because he claims he warned everyone about Dominik Mysterio long before Finn Bálor got taken out.
Speaking with Adrian Hernandez on March 14, 2026, the WWE Hall of Famer reacted to Dominik’s role in the brutal attack on Bálor during the March 9 episode of WWE Raw. Rey made it clear the situation is messy — but not exactly unexpected. When asked about Dominik betraying Bálor, Rey admitted the situation still feels strange to watch unfold: “It’s a little shaky, man.”
Rey then revealed that he had personally warned multiple older members of The Judgment Day about trusting Dominik in the first place: “I mean, I warned Finn like I warned Priest, like I warned Rhea that Dom is not the cat that they think he is.”
The legendary luchador made it clear that no one in the locker room understands Dominik better than he does: “And I’ve known him my whole life.” According to Rey, the rest of Judgment Day may only now be realizing the reality of Dominik’s personality: “It seems like, like anything else, now they’re finding out on their own.”
Rey suggested that sometimes people only learn who someone truly is after things fall apart: “Sometimes it takes time to really get to meet the person that you think he is, and he’s not.” He wrapped up his thoughts by admitting the whole situation is still surreal to watch play out: “So, it’s crazy.”
The comments come just days after the shocking moment on Raw where Dominik confronted Bálor over costing him the Intercontinental Championship. The argument quickly escalated when the rest of Judgment Day turned on Bálor, leaving him laid out after Dominik smashed him with a hammer and delivered a 6-1-9.
Dominik later defended the attack in an interview with Brad Gilmore, claiming the faction had been dealing with internal issues for months and saying Bálor should have seen it coming.
“Um, you know, it has been a good run for my old pal Finn Bálor. It had to be done. There were a lot of differences going on. We weren’t being a cohesive unit, and at the end of the day we played the Finn Bálor playbook, and that’s what happened. He should have seen it coming.”
With Bálor out of Judgment Day and Dominik stepping further into a leadership role inside the faction, the fallout from the betrayal is only just beginning. And if Rey Mysterio’s warning is any indication, the other Judgment Day members might want to keep a very close eye on him moving forward.
Do you think Rey Mysterio was right about Dominik Mysterio all along, or is Judgment Day better off without Finn Bálor? Let us know what you think.
