Ricochet Says His WWE Main Roster Call-Up Really Tarnished His Wrestling Legacy

Ricochet believes the time he spent on WWE’s main roster tarnished his wrestling legacy.

Reigning AEW National Champion Ricochet recently appeared on The Mark Hoke Show Pro Wrestling Radio Podcast. During the conversation, he looked back at his WWE career and compared the time he spent on the WWE main roster to being blipped away by Thanos’ snap. He believes the five years he spent on the main roster tarnished his entire wrestling legacy.

“The Ricochet that I am now is the same Ricochet that I was on the independent scene and in Japan, and doing the things that got me popular, to where I am today. Being even when I got hired in NXT, that was, you know, doing specific things. There was like an image that got posted. It was me, Johnny (Gargano), Tommaso (Ciampa), and Aleister (Black). It was all four of us, and it was like, ‘Coming to RAW.’

“And what should be the biggest promotion in our (industry), especially at that time, that was five or six years ago, so, especially at that time, what should’ve been the biggest promotion in our industry, turned out, I think, for, again, specifically Ricochet’s story, I think, was kind of like being (blipped out of existence by Thanos’ snap for five years). I literally think that’s how I put Ricochet’s wrestling career.

Ricochet says coming back to AEW helped him find his love for wrestling again

Ricochet compared joining AEW to seeing Tony Stark finally defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, adding that his WWE run was like a blip in the movie.

“Honestly, I already know how this is going to sound, and I already know how people are going to take this. But I think that the day we got called to RAW was the worst thing that happened to Ricochet’s wrestling career. Despite I met my wife there, I made friends, made memories, they had a crazy platform to put me, all the positive stuff, but I think specifically for Ricochet’s wrestling career, that’s where it got blipped.

“Because what I was doing and the trajectory that I was on compared to the trajectory that I got for those five years, and then how it completely changed the public’s image of Ricochet and who Ricochet was, I really do think that five years tarnished Ricochet’s wrestling legacy.”

He then noted that coming to AEW really helped him rediscover the love and passion he had for wrestling.
