The ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament will see Rinku Singh, an international player for Team India, participate in it. The 26-year-old who was participating in the UPT20 League, leading the Meerut Mavericks will be leaving the crew and joining India B for other matches.
According to a report by the Times of India, the southpaw is expected to join a squad led by Abhimanyu Easwaran that won against India A by 76 runs on Sunday in Bengaluru.
“My job is to work hard, and I am overjoyed that I got my call for Duleep Trophy. I was not part of the initial team when it was announced and that left me disheartened since all I want is to put in resources into myself,” stated Rinku as quoted by TOI. “Now, I’m more excited than ever because I’m here to play for India B at Duleep Trophy, which is so distinguished.”
Four individuals from Uttar Pradesh will have been involved in this domestic competition; however, Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal on the other hand are likely to miss their next matches after being selected by Team India’s squad for September 19th its first Test match against Bangladesh at Chennai.
Other UP-based players who will compete in this tournament include Rinku and Aaqib Khan.
The Indian international could be more popular for his batting style in T20s, but he also has a decent record in first-class cricket scoring 3173 runs in 47 matches with a strike rate of 54.7. It includes 7 centuries and 20 half-centuries while his highest score remains as 163 not out.
In their first match, India B managed to win thanks to Musheer Khan’s impressive innings of 181 runs. The addition of Rinku and Aaqib will be great replacements with a view to keep the winning streak going due to some vital players making it into the national squad.
On September 5, at the ACA ADCA Ground, Anantapur; India B will face India C captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
