The Indian cricket team is winning every series they enter. The team not only won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, but also clinched a victory against Zimbabwe despite having all young players and several debutantes.
While practicing for the Sri Lanka tour, Rinku Singh uses Virat Kohli’s bat amid banter with Suryakumar Yadav Team India is now going to play a 3 match T20I series as well as an ODI series of the same number in India’s tour of Sri Lanka.
After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from T20 cricket, Suryakumar Yadav has been selected as the new captain in the format.
Rinku Singh and the banter of bats India’s talented batsman Rinku Singh has been nothing short of great in his form with cricket. While the young player could not show his skills well in the India vs Zimbabwe tour, he is sure to make a mark this time against Sri Lanka.
One thing Indian fans are aware of, is Rinku’s love for bats. Well, other players’ bats that is. In the IPL 2024 season Rinku went viral for his soft cajoling of senior player and India ex-captain Virat Kohli for a new bat. The funny thing is that Rinku was asking for his second Virat Kohli bat, after breaking the first one.
Suryakumar Yadav’s witty caption and Rinku Singh’s ‘Virat Bhaiya’ reply
Recently, new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav shared a picture with Rinku Singh on his Instagram. The caption was a witty reference to Rinku’s bat-love.
“Theek hai bat le lena (Alright, take my bat)” the caption read. Rinku shared the story on his Instagram handle with the caption: “De do bhaiya bat (Give me your bat, brother).”
Later Rinku told the reporters present in Pallekele whether Surya finally gave him his bat or not. The left-handed replied: “Virat bhai ka bat chal raha hai abhi toh (I’m using Virat Kohli’s bat for now).”
Why Suryakumar Yadav was chosen above Hardik Pandya
Recently, Suryakumar Yadav became the T20I captain for team India after Rohit Sharma’s exit from the format. This was a bit surprising considering Hardik Pandya had been the number 1 choice for the position.
Selectors chose Suryakumar Yadav over Hardik Pandya to lead T20Is, citing Pandya’s fitness issues. Players feel more at ease with Suryakumar, noted chief selector Agarkar. He connects well with veterans and newcomers alike.
This was evident in his leadership during Australia and South Africa series. Suryakumar’s team rapport shines through in Pallekele practice sessions. His captaincy style fosters a comfortable team environment.
The decision reflects positive feedback from the dressing room. Suryakumar’s leadership skills have impressed both on and off the field.
