Rishabh Pant ended his IPL 2025 journey with mixed emotions. On one side, he finally found his batting form with a brilliant unbeaten century. On the other side, his team lost the game and he was handed a big fine for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
Rishabh Pant Fined ₹30 Lakh for Slow Over Rate
After the final league match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the BCCI fined Pant ₹30 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate.
This was LSG’s third offence of the season. That’s why the fine was higher than the regular ₹12 lakh penalty for captains. In an official statement, BCCI confirmed:
“Rishabh Pant has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 70 of IPL 2025 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.”
The other LSG players, including the Impact Player, were also fined individually. They were charged either ₹12 lakh or 50% of their match fee whichever was lesser.
Pant’s Century Not Enough as RCB Clinch Win
Pant’s punishment came just hours after he played one of his best IPL knocks. He scored 118* off 61 balls, hitting 8 sixes and 11 fours. Along with Mitchell Marsh, who scored 67, Pant helped LSG post a strong total of 227/3.
However, RCB chased the target easily in 18.4 overs. Virat Kohli made 54, while Jitesh Sharma stayed not out on 85 from just 33 balls.
With this win, RCB finished in the top two and will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 on May 29. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will face each other in the Eliminator on May 30.
