Rishabh Pant Poised for Vice-Captain Role in India’s T20 World Cup Campaign 2024

Headlines are buzzing with rumours of Hardik Pandya losing his vice-captaincy position for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

According to the ever-chatty folks at Cricbuzz, Rishabh Pant might step into the vice-captain shoes for India’s T20 World Cup expedition. Well, it seems Pant’s been flexing his leadership muscles and knocking it out of the park for Delhi Capitals in this year’s IPL.

The BCCI selectors are set for a rendezvous on May 1st to cook up India’s T20 World Cup squad. If the gossip mills are to be believed, Hardik Pandya might need to swap his vice-captain cap for a thinking cap. His stint as captain for Mumbai Indians in the IPL hasn’t exactly been a masterclass in decision-making.

Pandya had his shot at being India’s vice-captain during the 2023 ODI World Cup and was all set for an encore in the T20 showdown this year. However, Pant’s got the wind in his sails, and the selectors might just ride that wave.

As per insider whispers, Pant is also the frontrunner for India’s primary wicketkeeper-batsman role in the T20 World Cup. While Pandya’s been trying to keep his bowling mojo alive in the IPL, Pant seems to be stealing the limelight.

The T20 World Cup extravaganza kicks off on June 2nd. With the USA and the West Indies co-hosting this year, it’s going to be a cricket carnival like never before.
