Rishabh Pant to be removed as Delhi Capitals captain: Reports

Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant, who is both a wicketkeeper and a batsman, will not be the captain of the Delhi Capitals for the 2025 Indian Premier League. According to a report in the Times of India on Thursday (October 17), Delhi might need a new captain, and all-rounder Axar Patel could be the next one to lead the team. Pant became the captain of the team in 2021.

“Yes, the Delhi Capitals might need a new captain. There’s a possibility that Indian all-rounder Axar Patel could become the new captain, or the team might look for someone who can be a good captain at the IPL auction (which will probably happen overseas in mid-November),” a source told the Times of India.

“Pant is expected to be the team’s main player to keep. The people in charge at DC think he’ll do better without the extra responsibilities of being the captain,” the source said.
