Rizwan Accepts Justified Criticism After T20 Disappointment

Another thrilling edition of the T20 World Cup has been ended. The season witnessed some thrilling performances throughout. But Pakistan had a devastating T20 World Cup season. They faced major setbacks and exited the tournament from the group stage. The players failed to perform and dominate the group stage. After a long, Mohammad Rizwan openly admitted that their performance in the T20 World Cup had disappointed their fans.

Pakistan’s Forgetful Performance and Rizwan’s Words:

This edition of the T20 World Cup was a thrilling one. This time the West Indies and the USA organised the tournament. The teams were divided into two parts and Pakistan was part of group A along with India, the USA, Canada, and Ireland. They had a dismal campaign in the USA, failing to progress to the Super 8 stage after their early exit in the group matches. They began with a surprising loss to the USA in a Super Over, followed by another defeat to their traditional rivals, India. With just two victories in four matches, they bowed out of the tournament during the group phase.

Mohammad Rizwan also had a forgettable tournament on his personal note. Rizwan managed only 110 runs across four innings, averaging 36.66 with a strike rate of 90.90. He scored one fifty against Canada but faced criticism for his inconsistent shot selection, often losing his wicket at critical junctures. His inability to deliver match-winning performances proved costly for Pakistan in crucial moments of the tournament.

Mohammad Rizwan openly acknowledged that the team disappointed their fans during the T20 World Cup and accepts the criticism they are receiving. He said, “The criticism the team is facing is justified and we deserve this since we didn’t perform in accordance with expectations. Players who can’t face criticism won’t be able to succeed.”

Honest Confession by the Pakistani Batter:

Rizwan drew a comparison between the team’s state and that of a sick individual, underscoring the PCB chairman’s authority to implement changes within the squad. He emphasized that the PCB chief has full discretion over the team’s future direction, likening their situation to a patient in need of a crucial operation.

He said, “We are disappointed with our performance in the T20 World Cup. There are multiple reasons behind our losses. When a team loses, one can’t say that bowling and batting is doing well. Operations are a normal thing. When a person is ill, an operation is necessary. PCB Chairman is a hard-working person. The decision about who will remain in the team and who will not is the chairman’s right”
