Ollie Robinson, wicketkeeper from Durham, has been added to England’s Test squad touring New Zealand on Thursday to take over from the injured Jordan Cox.
It is his first call-up at the age of 25; he has the same name as Sussex fast bowler Ollie Robinson, who has 20 caps for England but was not selected for the tour squad.
During that time, Robinson has starred in the County Championships averaging 48 runs with the bat while he has had a contribution of 92 dismissals behind the stumps in just two years before this season.
Expected to reach the squad on Saturday.
Cox will be unavailable for the three-Test series after fracturing his right thumb during a net session last week.
First-choice wicketkeeper Jamie Smith is currently on paternity leave and will not participate in the series
The first Test began in Christchurch on Thursday, where Ollie Pope was wicket keeping.
The series of three Tests goes to Well Hamilton.
