Rohit found a perfect partner in Jonny Bairstow, who blazed his way to 47 off 22 balls. The duo added a blistering 84 runs in just 44 deliveries for the opening stand, laying a solid platform. More impressively, he reached the milestone in just 5,303 deliveries, becoming the fastest to do so in terms of balls faced, surpassing Kohli’s 5,403.
As if that wasn’t enough, Rohit also smashed his 300th IPL six, becoming the first Indian and only the second overall player to hit 300 sixes in the league.
Middle order keeps momentum
After the departure of Rohit and Bairstow, contributions from Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 20) and Tilak Varma (25 off 11) kept the scoreboard ticking. A late flourish by Hardik Pandya (22* off 9) ensured Mumbai crossed the 220-run mark, setting a daunting target for GT.
Titans struggle with the ball
For GT, Sai Kishore (4-0-42-2) was the decent spot with the ball, maintaining some control amid the run-fest and took two crucial wickets of Bairstow and Suryakumar Yadav. Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets but was expensive, conceding 52 runs in his four overs.
