The Indian cricket team has won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with collective efforts from the team, coaches, and supportive staff. 2 of the key players in India’s victory are the captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. Rohit Sharma and his wife pen notes for ex Head Coach Rahul Dravid as he gets replaced by Gautam Gambhir.
Rahul Dravid has now officially retired as the head coach after his contract ended right before India’s tour of Zimbabwe. Currently VVS Laxman is traveling with the fairly young team India as their head coach in Zimbabwe. There’s a lot of change in the team with key players like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli retiring from T20I cricket as well as Gautam Gambhir, the new coach getting signed.
Rohit Sharma’s emotional post for ‘work wife’ Rahul Dravid
Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid have been collaborating closely for the past three years, starting their leadership roles in Indian team management after the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Dravid succeeded Ravi Shastri as head coach, while Rohit was appointed India’s white-ball captain. Following Virat Kohli’s decision to step down after the South Africa tour in December-January 2022, Rohit became the all-format captain.
“My wife (Ritika Sajdeh) refers to you as my work wife and I am lucky to get to call you that too,” the current skipper wrote about his first international captain on his Instagram page.
“I have been trying to find the right words to properly express my feelings on this but I’m not sure I ever will,” the Indian skipper, not known to be overtly emotional, wrote.
“You are an absolute stalwart of this game but you left all of your accolades and achievements at the door and walked in as our coach and came on a level where we all felt comfortable enough to say just about anything to you.
“That is your gift, your humility and your love for this game even after all this time,” Rohit wrote.
“I think Sammy will miss you the most” Ritika Sajdeh says
Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, shared an emotional post for former India head coach Rahul Dravid, whose tenure ended after India’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign.
Shortly after Rohit mentioned that Ritika referred to Dravid as his “work wife,” she expressed how close Dravid was to the Sharma family. On Tuesday night, Ritika reshared Rohit’s heartfelt post on her Instagram story.
Ritika said their daughter Samaira will miss Dravid the most. “So many emotions, you mean so much to our entire family. You will be missed so much. I think Sammy will miss you the most,” she wrote.
Rahul Dravid will no longer be the team’s head coach as Gautam Gambhir has assumed the position.
