India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli are very much likely to play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy after a long gap. Rohit last appeared in 2015 whereas Kohli gave his last appearance in 2012. Although it is still not confirmed, participating in the Duleep Trophy has sure mad a storm in internet. Players like Shubhman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav are also invited to play in the Duleep Trophy, also marking the preparation for the Test series against Bangladesh starting September 19.
The Duleep Trophy is going to be played in a new format this time. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar ‘s panel will do the work of picking the four squads.
Kohli last played in Duleep Trophy, when he had not played any Test match for India. Kohli represented the North zone vs the South Zone in the 2010 semi-finals, as he scored a whopping 769 runs. Kohli batted at no. 4 and scored the most for the North Zone by making 56 as they got bowled out for 294.
Rohit’s last Duleep Trophy match was in 2016, for India blue against India Red in Noida. Rohit represented India Blue. After Gambhir and Mayank Agarwal’s half centuries, Rohit walked in at 178-2, scored 30 off 57 balls, and then got dismissed by Amit Mishra.
