Rohit Sharma shares his emotions after the World Cup victory

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, said that winning the 2024 T20 World Cup as the team leader felt even more special than his win in 2007 when he was just a player. The Indian cricket team, known as the Men in Blue, came back home on Thursday, July 4, after they won the World Cup by defeating South Africa in the championship game.

In both Delhi and Mumbai, special arrangements were put in place to welcome the team, and fans showed their excitement and support when the World Champions arrived. Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the players for a breakfast gathering. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) also arranged a special open-top bus parade in Mumbai so that fans could get a close look at their favorite players.

In a video shared by the BCCI showing the excitement of fans and players during a parade, captain Rohit talks about his first T20 World Cup win in 2007. He says that winning in 2024 felt even more special because he was the team’s captain. The Indian captain also felt happy to make the whole country smile with their victory.

“In 2007, the atmosphere was different. We began in the afternoon and ended in the evening. I can’t forget that year because it was my first World Cup. This time feels even more special because I was leading the team, which makes me very proud. It’s going to be crazy. You can see the excitement and understand how much it means not just to us but to the whole country. It’s very important. I’m really glad we could do this for them too,” Rohit said in a video shared by the BCCI.

The Indian team was honored at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rohit and top batter Virat Kohli expressed their feelings on this happy event. The players also entertained the fans by dancing to traditional Maharashtrian music at the stadium and gave them chills by singing the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’.
