Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma will not be travelling to Australia with the rest of the side ahead of the first game of the five-match Test series, according to RevSportz.
The squad is all set to leave for Australia in 2 batches on Sunday and Monday. However, Rohit’s inclusion in the first Test is not yet confirmed.
The report further clarified that Rohit will not be travelling to Australia for first Test due to ‘personal reasons’. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will address the media in a pre-departure press conference in Mumbai on Monday.
Doubts remain over Rohit’s availability in the first Test, which will be held from November 22 at the Optus Stadium in Perth, with the skipper himself recently admitting that he was “not sure” of his participation.
It is expected that if Rohit misses the first Test, then the captaincy will be handed over to pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Rohit will re-take the captaincy role once he returns to the squad in the second Test.
