Rohit Sharma Unhappy with India’s Performance as they Ended in a Tie

Rohit Sharma, who scored a solid 58 runs in his first ODI outing after the ODI World Cup 2023 was caught disappointed as India’s 1st ODI match against Sri Lanka ended up in a tie.

When the match ended without a result, the Indian captain said how the score was attainable but the team was lacking a consistent pace to score.

After Virat Kohli’s wicket was down, the Indian batters sort of made a short pull on the score with a 57-run partnership between Rahul and Axar, but Sri Lanka was quick to keep up with the pace and put pressure on the Men In Blue.

“We came back through the stand between Axar and Rahul. Disappointed to not get that one run with 14 balls, but I won’t read too much,” the skipper didn’t want to be too critical.

Rohit said that he felt the wicket was same for both of the teams.

“The bite was there at the start and then the ball became softer as the seam wore off. It was not a game where you can play your shots(right from the beginning). You had to apply yourself and dig in. Proud of how we fought but it was important to hold our nerves,” said Rohit.

Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka, who picked the last two wickets in 2 consecutive deliveries, felt that they should have won the game.

“I did believe we should have done a bit more well to restrict them under 230. It turned more in the afternoon. Under lights, it became easier to bat.”
