After being asked to bat first in overcast conditions at the Green Park Stadium, Bangladesh didn’t have a good start as they lost opener Zakir Hasan for a duck before the other opener, Shadman Islam also lost his wicket 3 overs later. Both the wickets were taken by Indian pacer Akash Deep.
After taking a wicket in his first over, Akash was once again at the centre of the proceedings a few overs later as his ball struck the pads of Shadman. Since he was bowling from around the wicket, it seemed like the angle would take the ball away from the leg-stump which even skipper Rohit Sharma suggested.
It looked as if India wouldn’t be taking a review, however, after wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant along with Akash suggested Rohit to take the DRS, he was left with no choice but to oblige to his team’s demands.
The replays showed three reds with the impact on the middle and leg and the ball was going to hit the leg-stump. Rohit was left absolutely shocked and couldn’t believe what he saw on the big screen and so were several of his teammates.
With this, India not only retained the review but also got the big wicket of Shadman who was batting well on 24 and restricted the visitors to 29/2.
