After a long wait, Team India lifted the ICC trophy. After a heartbreaking defeat in the last ODI World Cup, Team India bounced back in the recently ended T20 World Cup 2024. Since the beginning of the tournament, Team India has been in great shape and lifted the trophy for the second time. With that match, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma bid goodbye to the shortest format. After India’s win, Rohit Sharma’s mother’s social media went viral.

Team India achieved historic success by ending India’s long quest for an ICC title. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India triumphed in the 2024 T20 World Cup, defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final at Kensington Oval. Rohit played a pivotal role in the victory, while Virat Kohli, who was struggling in previous games, shone brightly with a crucial 76-run innings in the final, securing India’s triumph. With that exciting win, Team India lifted their second T20 World Cup trophy after a long wait. 

Rohit Sharma’s mother, Purnima Sharma, recently posted a unique photo on social media, featuring an edited picture of her son alongside Virat Kohli after India’s T20 World Cup victory. In this special image, Rohit and his daughter, Samaira, are seen alongside Kohli, capturing a heartwarming moment. It also had a special message saying, “Daughter on his shoulders, nation on his back, brother on his side.”

The Kohli-Rohit Duo’s Goodbye to T20 Cricket:

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli concluded their T20I careers on a high note with India’s T20 World Cup victory. Kohli, who played a crucial role in the final match with a match-winning 76-run innings, was named Player of the Match. Following this standout performance, Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is. 

He said, “This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. One day you feel like you can’t get a run and this happens, God is great. Just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup. Wanted to Yes I have, this was an open secret.”

Just an hour after India’s T20 World Cup victory, captain Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20Is, following in the footsteps of match-winner Virat Kohli, who also declared his retirement from the format. He announced this decision in the press conference. 

He said, “That was my last game as well. Honestly, I have enjoyed it since the time I started playing this format. There is no better time to say goodbye to this format. I have loved every moment of it. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted to do. win the Cup and say goodbye,”
